The IDMT Project is composed of: a Scientific Research Center called O Instituto da
Molécula Triptamina (The Institute of the Tryptamine Molecule) where theoretical study is
focused on Brazilian Shamanic Plants of Power and their use; an officially recognized
Church called Igreja do Divino Mestre na Terra (Church of the Divine Master on Earth)
where DMT can be legally consumed; and the author’s personal relationship with the Spirit
Molecule represented by the phrase I DMT.
Despite N,N-Dimethyltryptamine becoming a widely consumed psychedelic, due to the
expansion of Brazilian churches and South American shamans, there has been no study of
the relationship between oral doses and their effects and consequences to this date. The
IDMT project revolves around a unique opportunity to ingest DMT in milligrams separated
from the MAO inhibitor. The latter being served one hour earlier to guarantee a better and
immediate absorption of the former.
The encapsulated powders that are ingested are the centrifugally cleaned, dehydrated result
of a warm acidified-water extraction from each plant that is used separately, (Psychotria
viridis or Mimosa tenuiflora, Banisteriopsis caapi or Peganum harmala) which have passed
chemical laboratory examination to guarantee the quantity of alkaloids present in each
capsule.
The effects of the dosages will be studied through questionnaires, recorded interviews,
participant’s written and artistic recollections, and the complete video and sound recording
of all DMT sessions.
Our multi – inter – trans disciplinary project welcomes researchers, teachers and students
interested in Brazilian Shamanism, Altered States of Consciousness and DMT.

Dear ladies and gentlemen
and all the authorities present,
my name is Mark I. Collins
and this event to me is most pleasant,
for it is indeed a great privilege,
to be talking amongst this peerage,
on a subject that is incessant.
2.
I have chosen to speak using rhyme,
which is done by many a Brazilian shaman,
while they chant and dance in their churches,
all over our marvelous and beautiful nation.
So I really could not be an exception,
if I want to try and create a good impression,
and give more value to your kind reception.
3.
No simple words could ever be sufficient,
and I would have to speak for many days,
to give credit for all the deep knowledge,
that has been given to me freely on display.
Most of you here deserve special reverence,
especially those that we consider veterans,
and through “mud and blood” have paved a new way.
4.
This moment for me is very special,
for it is only now I leave my psychedelic closet,
for many years I have studied underground,
fearful of a persecution that is always promised,
to those that dare reveal the promised land
that is in our minds and always at hand,
with immense treasures that there are to harvest.

The use of a drug that is Schedule One,
supposedly deadly or very dangerous,
said at least to produce maladies
with results that are very treacherous.
How can it be that its used by children,
be it by adolescents or pregnant women,
with no result considered deleterious?
6.
How strange can it be a human invention,
that helps to organize life called bureaucracy,
become such an overwhelming creature
treating mankind in a way so treacherously,
ruining lives through mandatory imprisonment,
a victimless crime that is so indiscriminate,
capable of so much error and hypocrisy.

When science that is human knowledge,
is relegated by arbitrary beliefs,
mankind’s rationality a precious conquest,
is neglected with so much sadness and grief.
We see the perpetuation of a moral flaw,
being paraded as an impeccable law,
so much injustice with so little to achieve.
8.
I have been trained to be a teacher,
obtaining a master’s degree in philosophy,
my interests also include shamanism,
and this I study through anthropology,
but I research now about consciousness,
altered states being the predominance,
which I study through psychology.
9.
So here I stand before you in deep deference,
with a modest proposal that I want to contribute,
involving the study of something very sacred,
that I believe is an obligation to share and distribute,
and although my efforts are really so small,
compared to what has been done here by all,
please receive this project as a humble tribute.

Altered states of consciousness,
a complex theme to tackle,
present since a distant past,
and a motive for so much hassle,
be it painted in dark distant caves
or consumed in electronic raves,
the results never cease to baffle.
11.
In my country that is Brazil,
there is a favorable legislation,
to use a psychedelic by legal means,
with no risk of litigation,
but it has to be used religiously,
involving some notion of divinity,
and it cannot be used for recreation.
12.
There is also a resolution,
by the Government Administration,
CONAD zero one, slash two thousand and ten,
and is very precise in its affirmation,
that study and research are a priority,
considered by them a great necessity,
and should also receive State subsidization.

Wanting to study every day more,
I wondered how I could do this,
for to study in the realms of faith,
one is prone to wander amiss,
for how sensitive can be religious toes,
when one steps on them and then knows,
how it can be difficult for them to forgive.

The difference between what’s pagan and sacred,
depends on whose dogma are you to consult,
everyone to the other is for eternity dammed,
we all meet in afterlife if this is to result.
If religion was made for mankind to unite,
the result has been millennia of distress and fight,
and the suffering of many an innocent adult.

Which church to choose to carry out the study?
Would I be able to do all that is needed?
Could I apply all those academic protocols
without the worry of having exceeded?
Would science have to submit to religion
so that something can maintain itself hidden?
Would there be problems for the work to be completed?
16.
So what could I do to accomplish my intentions
and try to conciliate religion and science?
I decided that to overcome this great problem
I would have to create a creed in frank defiance.
So that I could deal with something so precious,
without concerning myself with a reaction so vicious,
I created with Divinity my own special alliance.

In my new belief that I now, dearly cherish,
there is no conflict between science and religion.
I do not demand from anybody exclusiveness,
and there are no threats for one to be smitten.
If Divinity had not wanted man for reasons to find,
certainly wouldn’t have given such a prodigious mind,
to be widely used and completely guilt-ridden.

So here I am to present an academic project,
that involves the construction of a very small church,
to be able to study something to me so special,
and to be able to do some good honest research.
There is no pretension of “saving humanity”,
but I do want to preserve the beauty of diversity,
without other religions offend or disturb.

The project has a clear twofold presentation,
as I said involving science and religion.
The first is a devout religious congregation,
and the second a scientific academic institution.
Be it the Church of the Divine Master on Earth,
or the Institute of the Tryptamine Molecule, we observe,
both have, in Portuguese, IDMT
as their sole designation.

If you see the first than you have to admit,
the existence of the second that is always together,
two sides of a coin that can never be separated,
both being part of the exactly same endeavor,
that is the accomplishment of a scientific project,
in this case the study of a specific object,
the altered states of consciousness and its encounter.

The Church has only one member,
to be legal it is all that is necessary,
the rest that come are participants,
invited to this scientific monastery.
The enrolment is the same as in any other church,
except that it includes participation in a research,
as a temple, mine is just as ordinary.

This exclusiveness has a reason,
that is not to offend or interfere,
in the religions of those that participate,
so we make it to all very clear,
that you have no need to change your belief,
and I hope that this is a motive for relief,
to those that have an intention to adhere.

Issues that involve honesty, safety, and health,
something that has troubled many of yourselves,
is making me develop a distinct scientific protocol,
open to any that would like to delve,
into the details of my humble enterprise,
and to those that feel that they empathize,
with something that has fascinated also myself.

The substance to study will be DMT,
which is found also in the ayahuasca brew,
the method of absorption is through oral ingestion,
and our intention here is to be able to pursue,
a continuation of the work of dear Dr. Strassman,
with whose results we’ll make a formidable comparison,
and who’s work is an inspiration for all of us too.

The alkaloids will be served separately,
in capsules containing powder,
dehydrated water extract of both the sacred plants ,
new presentation of the same spiritual power,
first we will obtain inhibition,
to guarantee complete admission,
of the DMT that is served after an hour.

Our work will focus on the results of the consumption,
using Strassman’s scale called the HRS,
we hope to relate carefully studied dosages,
to study the results of the immediate effects.
Chacrona and Jurema will be our source of DMT,
abundant endemic plants that we are to study,
together with the altered states that are its results.

Another point that is to be deeply studied,
is related to the nature of the altered states,
we hope to study this through Benny Shanon’s, “Antipodes”
trying to understand how our mind operates,
under the effect of the “Spirit Molecule”,
which over time has become a marvelous tool,
and is called the plant teacher that also educates.

Here the Biophilic experience,
will be studied as to how it can be obtained,
associating dosages and the effects they result,
seeking experiences that many have acclaimed,
that increment Ecological and Self awareness,
where one obtains a conscience so precious,
something so intense and so difficult to be explained,

We will work also with the ASSIST,
and the WHOQOL questionnaires,
two excellent ways of judging improvement,
in their areas so that we can easily compare,
the participant’s quality of life evolution,
and the progress of his addiction’s resolution,
according to his visits to our house of prayer.

Participants will all be interviewed,
we are interested in each and every recollection,
of the experiences that each one went through,
while in the process of introspection,
and all the information will be organized,
in such a way to be used and analyzed,
for all to be able to make their own connections.

Each person that wants to participate,
will have during his stay within the church,
a register of all that happens in his sessions,
so that all his experiences are easy to search.
This way he can understand his path and process,
through the thorough register of all of his progress,
that are kept in the archives of our research.

Both the institutions are managed by myself,
but I work together with a marvelous team,
of colleagues in many specialties,
all professionals of great value and esteem,
who provide help and academic advice,
so that we are able to optimize,
an opportunity in the past unforeseen.

The place of research will be in Brazil,
because of the favorable legislation there,
we welcome all serious researchers,
for this invitation I very happily declare,
that I hope to establish an appropriate place,
where men of goodwill can meet and embrace,
and their experience and knowledge freely share

This project is made to be very long term,
and I hope it lasts at least twenty years,
for then I will be seventy four years of age,
and my productivity afterwards may be unclear,
but one thing I can to all guarantee,
that this is a life project to some others and to me,
and a reason of great dedication for something so dear.

that is the gratitude that I have to express,
first for the patience for having accompanied until here,
and the hoping that there was no regret.
